BE WELL

$20.00Add to cart

Summer 2009: Brand-new college graduate Ann Ward has sent out nearly three hundred job applications, but nobody will employ her. The last thing she wants to do is leave Los Angeles, return to her desert hometown, and live in the shadow of her fame-hungry televangelist father–and it’s starting to look like that’s her fate. Thankfully, Ann’s luck turns after a humiliating failed job interview, when she meets the magnetic founder of upscale holistic wellness collective Sagebrush. She’s quickly drawn deep into the privileged, demanding world of Sagebrush, inventing Anneliese–a dubious new persona–to fit in.

But when her funds run out and her lies blow up, Ann must choose between facing reality or doing whatever she has to do in order to get the future she wants. Both a “funny ha-ha-” and a “funny oh no” read for anyone who survived the Great Recession, Be Well explores just how easy it is to believe in something unquestioningly–and lie to ourselves and others–when everything feels uncertain and the future isn’t guaranteed.

A Claudia Rose Novel (Book 10)

Handwriting doesn’t lie. But people do.  Forensic handwriting expert Claudia Rose takes on two new cases: a forged signature in a troubling auto theft investigation, and a young woman desperate for help after her uncle receives a series of anonymous, threatening notes.

As Claudia examines the handwriting behind each case, troubling undercurrents begin to surface. Details don’t add up. Stories shift. Emotional pressure bleeds through the ink in ways the writers never intended.

Then a sudden tragedy strikes close to home, and Claudia’s work turns darker and far more personal. Someone is hiding behind half-truths and false leads, and the only clues she can trust are the ones written on the page.

And even those carry lies between the lines.

DEAD MERCHANDISE is the third entry in the Cheater’s Lake, Washington, mystery series. The action spans from San Diego to Seattle with victims and cops battling an expansive criminal network of church members and crooked law enforcement.

In San Diego, Ana Martinez overhears her stepfather’s phone call regarding the deaths of six young Mexican girls and plans for delivery of new merchandise. Believing she could become one of the next sex trafficking targets, Ana flees to Cheater’s Lake to her cousin, Olivia Ortega, for help.

Olivia shares the taped call with her lover, Homicide Detective Mark Walsh. Working undercover with the FBI task force, Walsh and best friend Greg Hogan, a former San Diego PD detective, join forces to track down the next shipment headed for Canada. It’s a race against time when the kidnappers’ van overturns and the brave young girls who survived are on the run in Northern California.

THE PARIS CHASE

$27.00Add to cart

In this cinematic, suspenseful World War II mystery, Caitrin Colline, the sharp-witted Welsh spy who has become one of Winston Churchill’s most trusted agents, is dropped into France to retrieve vital Nazi documents…

London, 1942: The threat of German invasion has abated, and the war has entered a new chapter, famously summed up by Winston Churchill as “the end of the beginning.” While Churchill faces mounting pressure and calls for his resignation, a dark new horror is unfolding across the channel, as the Nazis move forward with their plan to murder Europe’s Jews.

In the Berlin suburb of Wannsee, young SS officer Dieter Silber helps organize the conference where Reinhard Heydrich outlines his “Final Solution.” Horrified, Dieter steals a copy of Heydrich’s proposal and flees to Paris. Soon there are posters all over the city seeking his whereabouts. If he is not found swiftly, many innocents will die in his place.

Caitrin has her mission directly from Churchill himself: bring Dieter and the document back to London. Posing as a maid for another female spy, she takes up residence at the mansion opposite SS headquarters on Paris’s Avenue Foch. Once Dieter is located, the chase will begin in earnest.

Among Caitrin’s allies are a local gangster, and her aristocratic friend, Lord Hector Neville-Percy. The Resistance is formidable and courageous. But always, the SS are in close pursuit. And as Caitrin has learned, this is a war in which every moment and even the smallest decision can mean the difference between life and death.
